Buffy Comforter Review

Buffy is an online-only comforter company. They’ve since come out with some other products but they started with comforters. Their comforters are environmentally friendly, with eucalyptus harvested from regenerative forests in Austria and the Czech Republic. Even the thread they use is 100% recycled.

These are super comfortable comforters. However, we found they’re practically the opposite of what’s advertised in terms of how warm they sleep. Be sure to keep reading to help you pick the best one for you.

We may earn a commission and you’ll get more environmentally friendly, happy sleep when you shop through our links.

Buffy Comforter FREE TRIAL

No matter which Buffy comforter you choose, Buffy has a FREE TRIAL. Here’s how it works. You order the product and a hold will be placed on your card, to make sure it’s valid (it will say, processing on your statement). You’ll only be charged if you keep it. However, you only have 7 days to return it. Unlike a mattress, you don’t need a long time to test it out. So sleep on it immediately.

Which Buffy Comforter Should You Get?

There are 2 Buffy Comforters, the Breeze and The Cloud. Both are a thinner, lighter weight style comforter but they’re very different from each other both in the fabric they’re made of and how much they retain heat. Each is a down alternative comforter, with no real feathers. I appreciated that they’re both quiet – you know how some comforters are crunchy (not in the environmental sense) and you can hear the fabric move when the comforter does? Not these.

Also note that while the comforters are made with eucalyptus, they contain the plant, not the essential oil. There is no scent, so it’s safe for kids, animals and allergies.

Buffy Comforter and Duvet Cover Colors

Buffy comforters come in white only, with no dyes or bleaching. So if you want to change the color, get a Buffy duvet cover. The colors are created with plant-based, all natural dye. Choose from gray, pinkish and blue shades.

  • Blush (so pretty, dusty rose color)
  • Light gray (almost off white) or Dark gray (still lighter)
  • Light blue or Dark blue (which is more a medium blue)
  • Soft Hemp duvet covers come in natural (light brown/tan), natural contrast (gorgeous) or white.

The Buffy Cloud Comforter

The Cloud is advertised as a cooler sleeping comforter. But we found it warm. Very warm. So if you’re cold and want to sleep toasty warm, get The Breeze.

The Cloud is a little fluffier and thicker overall than The Breeze. It’s made with soft renewable eucalyptus fibers which they make and they call polyester and if you read the label it’ll say polyester but instead of making it with recycled water bottles, like The Breeze, it’s made with renewable eucalyptus. Which uses 10% water to grow a eucalyptus tree than it does to grow cotton. It’s made from recycled water bottles. So if you feel guilty about all those water bottles you’ve thrown away at the gym then you’d better buy the Buffy comforter!

They said that so far they have this recycled over 6 million plastic bottles.

  • Shell is woven from Oeko-Tex certified, earth-friendly eucalyptus fiber
  • Each comforter recycles approximately 50 plastic bottles
  • Ultra-smooth fiber is naturally resistant to dust, mites, and mold
  • 100% eucalyptus fiber shell
  • 100% recycled PET, BPA-free fill
  • Super-soft, 300 single-ply thread count
  • Loops in every corner for duvet covers

The Buffy Breeze Comforter

The Buffy Breeze comforter features an outer layer made of eucalyptus, just like The Cloud. But the difference is on the inside, which is also made of eucalyptus too. They use eucalyptus fibers for the filling as well so again no goose feathers in either of these. So it saves the goose and if you have allergies…good for allergies but this one because of the eucalyptus on the inside it’s definitely cooler which was really nice for me in the summer.

  • Made entirely of Oeko-Tex certified, earth-friendly eucalyptus fiber
  • Wave stitching pattern keeps fill in place
  • Ultra-smooth fiber is naturally resistant to dust, mites, and mold
  • 100% eucalyptus fiber shell and 100% eucalyptus fiber fill
  • Super-soft, 300 single-ply thread count
  • Loops in every corner to accommodate cover ties

Care instructions include dry clean only, although we washed in gentle on cool and air dried with no issues. Some reviews complained about problems when dry cleaning which is why we skipped it (in addition to the extra cost and effort).

Sleep Trial and Warranty

There is not a sleep trial, only the 7 day trial for Buffy products. Manufacturing defects may be covered after the 30-day return policy on a case-by-case basis. We think this is an inferior term compared to other online bedding companies, however, it fits with the company’s effort to reduce waste.
