At our house, we’re looking to switch to a split king adjustable base and split king mattresses. That way we can operate each side independently (massage, raising/lowering the head or feet, etc). They connect together and we’ll have separate fitted sheets but share the blanket and duvet top layers.
If you sleep with someone and either one of you snores, you can raise your head by a few inches and make it easier to breath, lowering the chances of snoring. Plus it’s very relaxing to have massage. If you wake up and have trouble falling back asleep, a little massage can help calm you back to sleep.
Below you’ll find some tips and then our list of adjustable bases you can buy online, their features, trial period, warranties and prices.
How to Choose An Adjustable Bed Base
Before we delve into our big list of buy now pay later adjustable bed bases, here are a few considerations to keep in mind when choosing a bed base.
- How adjustable is the base?
The adjustability of bed bases can vary significantly. The number of hinges and type of mechanical components used will determine the movement range of each base. Think about the types of positions you would like the bed base to take and check if the base can form them. - Is there a massage function?
Some adjustable bed bases come with a massage mode (we think this is the best!). The bed will vibrate or internal rollers will move across parts of your body. The quality of these massage capabilities can also vary, so check out what is on offer. There may be one or dual motors, at just the back or also at the feet or the whole bed). - Does your mattress suit the bed base?
To use an adjustable bed base, you will need a mattress that can change shape to match the contours of the folded base. Confirm that your mattress has the ability to bend in the regions where the base folds. If you are unsure, ask the manufacturer. - What is the motor like?
The quality of the motor is an important factor to keep in mind when choosing a base. Look for products that have a long warranty as it is a sign that the manufacturer has used a reliable motor that will perform well for many years to come. - What sizes are available?
Not all products are available in standard sizes. You may find that some bed bases are only available in Queen or King. - Is there a lengthy warranty period?
Adjustable bed bases have complex internal components, so check that the products you are considering come with a lengthy warrant period. - How much does it cost?
Modern adjustable bed bases can be expensive, due to the incredible technology they include. Check the price of the bed and the type of buy now, pay later financing that is available. - Wall hugger (not to be confused with tree hugger) or not? A wall hugger adjustable bed keeps you in about the same place as you raise and lower the mattress. Bases without this feature will raise you up and will move your entire body forward. This makes it tough to reach your bed stand. Also, you may have a tight space.
- Bed frame with head and footboard. The base is just the motorized bed that goes under your mattress. You probably still want a frame to drop it into with a headboard and/or footboard for a more finished look. As long as there are no supports in the center, or the frame will stand without one, you can drop your adjustable base in any frame you choose.
EVERY adjustable base in this list offers fast financing that you can set up auto payments to make it so easy. That way you don’t have to pay for your base, mattresses and accessories all at once. Get it now but pay as you go. It’s easy to find no interest or low interest plans. There’s Affirm and other financing companies who will let you know what your terms are in seconds.

The Adjustable Base I Want Most
We’re actually in the market for an adjustable base, so this research helped us narrow down our choice. The adjustable frame I’m looking at buying, is the ErgoMotion base – Tempurpedic ErgoExtend. Because my husband is taller and we are very interested in a robust massage feature, zero G and head tilt.
There’s foot and head lift as well as a pillow tilt (great to help with snoring). It has a 25 year warranty, zero gravity, wall hugger, and retainer.
Perfect Seat is probably the biggest feature that you’ll want to get, AFTER the pillow tilt. The “upper” portion of the BASE slides back. This keeps your hips in place. There is no need to wiggle your body to maintain proper body position regardless of base position. TALLER people won’t feel like they are being pushed off the bed.
The most UNDERRATED feature of an adjustable bed is under bed lights. If you have to get up in the middle of the night; it won’t ruin night vision but gives you light without disturbing your partner. If you have two partners with different wake up times, turning on these lights won’t disrupt the one still sleeping.
USB ports on each side to charge devices.
Massage – 3 levels of intensity in 4 zones. It promotes circulation. It soothes and relaxes the body and promotes rest and recovery. If you’re concerned about “zero gravity”, then massage is the perfect pairing. Just note that it’s not a kneading type of massage. It’s more the vibrating kind.
